About night spots in Aarhus

Nightlife in Aarhus is not one street you walk down. There are seven places here, and most of them are bars that simply stay open longer than the rest. They do sit close enough together that you can walk between them in under a quarter of an hour.

Åboulevarden is the backbone. Den Gyldne Kro stays open until five in the morning from Wednesday to Saturday and keeps seats out by the water for as long as the weather allows. Vinstuen in Fiskergyde has the longest hours in the city — from eleven in the morning until five at night, and six at weekends. It is the last stop of the evening, and everybody knows it.

For music, Sway on Sankt Clemens Torv is the place: rock, indie and punk on the decks, gigs and release parties, open until five from Thursday to Saturday. Erlings on Nørreport is the quieter version, with jazz and fourteen craft beers on tap, open until two at weekends.

Start earlier and the route usually runs through the cocktail bars. Sct. Pauls Apotek on Jægergårdsgade closes at two on Friday and Saturday, Gedulgt on Fredensgade does the same, and Herr Bartels by the river at midnight. All three are shut at the start of the week, so a night out in Aarhus really begins on Thursday.
