For Emma is closing. The owners announced it on their own site on 30 September: the bakery, the webshop and both shops — Vestergade in Aarhus and Vesterbrogade in Vejle — close at the end of October after ten years. The business is being wound up solvently, and the reason is the house's own: the administrative load grew too heavy for a small set-up.
The last opening day is Friday 30 October 2026, and the hours have already changed. From week 41 they open only Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from twelve until six, and the house says itself that the range may vary. The webshop is closed.
What closes is one of the few places in Aarhus where the whole counter is gluten-free — baked without wheat, rye and barley, and lactose-free at the same time. Much of it is dairy-free and some of it vegan. That is why it has been on the list: not a bakery with a gluten-free shelf, but a bakery with no gluten at all.
If you want to catch it, there are three days a week left in October. Vestergade is a few minutes' walk from Store Torv.
