Bauns Bageri on Vestre Alle is a Danish neighbourhood bakery in the good sense of the word: rolls at eight kroner, spandauer, jødekage and brunsviger at eighteen, and warm liver pâté for anyone taking lunch home. The house bakes everything from scratch.
Tuesday to Thursday you can mix ten rolls for 70 kroner, and that is the deal to know about. Rum buns are nine kroner each, and layer cakes are the house speciality — from six people to more than a hundred.
Open Tuesday to Friday from six to half past four and at weekends from six to four. Closed on Mondays.
You can order and pay on the website and collect the next day. It suits Sunday morning bread, the novelty cake for a children's birthday and anyone living in Kærby who does not want to go into the centre for a roll. It is not a place to make a detour for — but it is exactly what you want round the corner.
