About brunch spots in Aalborg

Brunch in Aalborg is a shorter list than in the bigger Danish cities — seven places — and almost none of them are brunch restaurants in the strict sense. They are cafés with a menu that covers the whole day, where brunch is simply the first third of it. The upside is that you rarely need to book, and the queue is manageable. This page is the overview: all seven on the map, with open now and filters. The ranking, and where to get breakfast earliest, are in the guide to brunch in Aalborg.

Peace on Boulevarden opens at eight Monday to Saturday and closes at ten in the evening — eleven from Thursday to Saturday. There are vegetarian dishes all the way through. Det Tredje Sted on Bispensgade opens at nine and carries on into the evening without changing register. Caféministeriet on Møllegade has the best outdoor seats on the street and stays open until eleven — until two on Friday and Saturday.

Café Friends on Urbansgade serves brunch from ten every day and burgers the rest of the time, and the menu is broad enough for a group that cannot agree. Brett & Bagels in Aalborg Øst bakes its bagels in house and opens at a quarter to eight on weekdays — this is the university quarter's breakfast.

Two of the seven are not brunch but get used as it. Lille Nyhavn on Strandgade does Danish lunch with smørrebrød, the open rye sandwiches, close to the fjord, and it works across the generations. Brasserie Kunsten sits inside Alvar Aalto's museum building, opens at nine on weekdays and ten at the weekend, and you need no museum ticket to eat there. Closed Monday.
