Café Aalto inside Alvar Aalto's art museum — the architecture is half the visit.

Cake and coffee beneath the skylights in the museum — Brasserie Kunsten

Illustration made with AI

The brasserie sits inside Kunsten, the museum Alvar Aalto designed in the 1950s, and the room is part of the experience: marble, light from above and lines that were thought through. The food is lunch and cake, and you do not need a museum ticket to come in.

The card is lunch at the lighter end — open sandwiches, salads, cake with the coffee — and it is the setting that makes the visit. On Saturday and Sunday from ten to three there is a weekend brunch for 220 kroner and a children's brunch for 120. There are seats outside facing the sculpture park in summer.

Open Tuesday to Friday from nine to five and at weekends from ten to five. Closed on Monday.

It suits a lunch before or after the museum and visitors who want to see the architecture. Kong Christians Allé is a few minutes' walk from the centre through the park.
