Sylvius is named after Franciscus Sylvius, one of the first to distil juniper, and the bar carries that curiosity on: more than eighty gins from around the world, which the bartenders will happily guide you through.
A gin and tonic with a premium gin costs around ninety kroner, and there are house cocktails too. The bar is small, and that is its strength — you end up talking to the people behind the counter.
Open Thursday from four to eleven and Friday and Saturday from two until one in the morning. Closed the rest of the week.
It suits two people tasting their way through something unfamiliar, and anyone who thinks a gin and tonic can be more than one thing. Algade is in the middle of the pedestrian network.
