The best pizza in Copenhagen costs between 140 and 195 kroner for a margherita, and the difference between those two numbers is not quality — it is how much of the cheese the house makes itself. That is the only dividing line that holds up once you have eaten your way through the city's pizzerias. Everyone uses sourdough. Everyone says San Marzano. But only one address in Copenhagen has its own dairy on the first floor, and you can taste it.
Below are seven addresses, ranked. Prices come from each venue's own menu in September 2026, and the hours are written out, because two of the best close the kitchen an hour before the sign on the door says.

1. Bæst, Nørrebro
Guldbergsgade 29, 2200 Copenhagen N. Dinner every day from five to ten. Lunch Saturday and Sunday from twelve to half past two.
Bæst is the most expensive pizzeria on this list and the only one where the price has a concrete explanation. The house runs its own micro-dairy and its own salumeria upstairs. Mozzarella, burrata and stracciatella are made daily from Danish jersey milk, and the charcuterie from Danish pork. This is not a story written on a chalkboard — it is the working day behind the price.
A margherita costs 195 kroner. The marinara with stracciatella and the larger pizzas with n'duja, mushrooms or salsiccia run to 255, and the monthly specials between 285 and 295. The oven is wood-fired, the base is sourdough.
Start with the charcuterie and let the cheese decide the pizza afterwards. That is the order the kitchen is built for. Tables for up to twelve can be booked online, and thirteen to seventy through group booking, but Bæst also keeps room for guests who turn up without one — they say so on their own front page.
2. Surt, Carlsberg Byen
Bag Elefanterne 2, 1799 Copenhagen V. Open every day from twelve to half past nine. Phone +45 91 80 83 10.
Surt opened in December 2019, started by Giuseppe Oliva, who helped open Bæst and whose family has baked bread since 1941. That explains why this is the only place on the list that matches Bæst on craft without copying it.
The dough is raised on ancient grain varieties with no industrial yeast at all. The oven was not bought but built on site together with the oven maker Ernesto. Buffalo mozzarella sits on almost every pizza, and the goat's cheese on the Stensbølgård pizza is made in house.
Marinara 165 kroner, margherita 175. Zucchini 225, Rianata 235 and Hindsholm 265. Takeaway runs through their own shop, and the table is yours for one hour and forty-five minutes. Dogs are welcome. Children are welcome, but there are no high chairs — bring your own. The bar next door belongs to the house.
Note that Surt is not in Nørrebro, as half the internet writes. It is in Carlsberg Byen, ten minutes from Enghave Plads.
3. Magstræde nr. 16, Indre By
Magstræde 16, 1204 Copenhagen K. Open Monday to Thursday from five to ten and Friday and Saturday from five to eleven. Closed Sunday. The kitchen closes at nine Monday to Thursday and half past nine Friday and Saturday — arrive an hour before at the latest.
The place was called Gorm's until recently and is still part of the GORM's group, but runs its own card under the address's name. The pizza is Roman rather than Neapolitan: thin-based, crisp, organic and raised for seventy-two hours. It is the only genuinely Roman base in this guide, and that is why it sits so high.
The card carries only three pizzas, and that is deliberate — they are meant as sharing dishes alongside the handmade pasta. Margherita 160 kroner, Veggie & Cremet 160, Salsiccia & Cime di Rapa 165. Three courses cost 350 kroner, five courses 495. The mozzarella is organic from Øllingegaard, and on the margherita fresh buffalo mozzarella goes on after the oven. A gluten-free base costs 25 kroner extra. The Parma ham is imported by the house itself.
If you want to walk in without booking, the group has a branch in Tivoli Food Hall at Bernstorffsgade 3, which takes no reservations at all.
4. mother, Meatpacking District
Høkerboderne 9-15, 1712 Copenhagen V. Open Monday to Thursday from eleven to ten, Friday and Saturday until eleven, Sunday from ten to ten.
mother opened in 2010 and was one of the very first places to eat in the Meatpacking District. It is still the address in the area where you can bring children for dinner without feeling out of place. The oven is wood-fired, the dough one hundred per cent natural organic sourdough.
The fact that matters most: on weekdays between eleven and five, any pizza on the card costs one hundred kroner. That is the cheapest real pizza in this guide, and it is no worse in the afternoon than in the evening. Brunch runs from ten to three on Saturday and Sunday.
There is takeaway, and tables can be booked. The house opened a second address on Ny Østergade in Indre By in 2025 — we stay with the original, because this guide takes only one branch per chain.
5. La Vecchia Signora, Indre By
Grønnegade 12-14, 1107 Copenhagen K. Open every day from twelve to four and again from five to eleven. The kitchen serves until ten. Phone +45 33 16 00 48.
The restaurant is run by the married couple Achille and Olimpia, both of Sardinian origin, in a half-timbered house from 1753. The Italian guide Gambero Rosso has listed it among Copenhagen's best pizzerias in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023 and 2024. Six years on an Italian list is the kind of documentation that is hard to argue with.
Marinara 149 kroner, margherita 155, Ai Funghi 165, Del Golfo 185. Extra toppings cost 15 kroner. Those are among the lowest prices on the list, and that is in the middle of the old town.
The closed break between four and five is worth remembering. Turn up at half past four and you are standing in Grønnegade.
6. Pizzeria Luca, Indre By
Gammel Strand 42, 1202 Copenhagen K. Open Monday to Thursday from twelve to ten, Friday and Saturday until eleven, Sunday until ten. Phone +45 92 15 69 69.
Luca is the cheapest of the serious pizzerias in the old town and the only one open all day without a break. Both margherita and marinara cost 140 kroner, diavola 175 and mortazza 180. There is a sharing menu at 325 kroner per person.
San Marzano tomato and fior di latte run through the whole card. Booking goes through EasyTableBooking, takeaway through Wolt.
One thing to keep straight: "Luca" and "Pizzeria Luca" are the same place, and it is on Gammel Strand. The family also has Trattoria Luca in Lyngby and a branch at the airport, but there is no Luca in Vesterbro, whatever several lists claim.
7. Perron, BaneGaarden
Otto Busses Vej 45. Open Tuesday to Friday from half past eight to four and Saturday and Sunday from nine to four. Closed Monday.
Perron is really a sourdough bakery, and the pizza is what the oven does in the afternoon once the bread is out. That is why it comes last: you do not come out here for the pizza alone. You come because BaneGaarden is a car-free yard in the old goods buildings behind Dybbølsbro, where children can run around while the adults eat.
Everything is organic, and there is both vegetarian and vegan on the card. Lunch starts at eleven, and brunch runs from ten to two at the weekend. It is a quarter of an hour's walk from Central Station.
What it costs
A margherita in Copenhagen runs between 140 and 195 kroner. Luca is the cheapest, Bæst the most expensive, and the whole field in between fits inside fifty-five kroner. That is a small spread for such a large difference in craft.
The only real saving is at mother on weekdays before five, where any pizza costs one hundred kroner. If you want pizza for under 150 kroner in the evening, La Vecchia Signora and Pizzeria Luca are the two addresses where that works without compromise.
Where to go, depending on what you need
- A meal you remember: Bæst. Charcuterie first, pizza after.
- The same craft, less ceremony: Surt.
- A crisp base instead of a soft one: Magstræde nr. 16. It is the only Roman one on the list.
- With children: mother or Perron. Both have room, and nobody has to be hushed.
- Cheap and central: Pizzeria Luca or La Vecchia Signora.
- Without booking: Bæst keeps room for walk-ins, and GORM's in Tivoli Food Hall takes no reservations at all.
- Late in the evening: mother and Pizzeria Luca are open until eleven on Friday and Saturday. The city has no pizzeria running after midnight.
Two addresses you can cross off
Il Buco on Njalsgade has closed. Its own front page is now a closing notice dated 21 November 2024, after thirteen years. It still appears on several recommendation lists.
Pizzeria 54 no longer exists as a pizzeria. The address at Sønder Boulevard 54 is now PESCE, an osteria serving fish and shellfish. There is no pizza on the card.
