About night spots in Odense
Nightlife in Odense is a short stretch. Vindegade and Vestergade hold most of it, and everything is a few minutes' walk from the pedestrian street, so there is no reason to take a taxi between two places. On the other hand there are not many of them, and they do not close at the same hour.
Jazzhus Dexter on Vindegade is what the city is known for. The calendar carries concerts with Danish and international names, jam sessions, big band and a music quiz, and on Friday and Saturday the bar opens as early as one in the afternoon with free live music. It is the easiest way to hear something without buying a ticket.
Den Smagløse Café a few doors along has DJs on Saturdays and stays open until three on Friday and Saturday, in a room that looks like a living room rather than a club. Bar Rar on Dronningensgade makes colourful cocktails from Wednesday to Saturday and also runs to three at the weekend. Cafe Kræz on Gråbrødre Plads has the same closing time, but from Thursday onwards.
The late end is on Vestergade. JUNE BAR opens at five and closes at four, but on Friday and Saturday only — it is the city's latest address. Cuckoo's Nest on the same street runs to two from Thursday to Saturday and opens at nine in the morning if you want to start early. Nothing in Odense goes past four, so plan the evening around that.
