About night spots in Copenhagen
Copenhagen's nightlife is not gathered in one place. There is no single street you simply walk down — there is a handful of addresses in different neighbourhoods, and which one you pick depends mostly on how late you intend to go home.
Start early and you start with music or a drink. Jazzhus Montmartre on Store Regnegade has been a jazz club since 1959 and puts on concerts at eight most evenings; you can eat before they go on. Ruby on Nybrogade opens at five and closes at one — two at weekends — with a minimum age of twenty-one. Curfew on Stenosgade runs until two from Thursday to Saturday.
To go further you head for Vesterbro or the Meatpacking District. Bar Una on Oehlenschlægersgade stays open until four on Friday and Saturday, and Bakken on Flæsketorvet is the dance floor in the old slaughterhouse halls — Thursday to Saturday until five in the morning, and the obvious move after dinner in the district.
For the whole night, Culture Box on Kronprinsessegade is the city's techno institution: two rooms, Black Box and Red Box, open Friday and Saturday from ten in the evening until it gets light, with an entry fee that drops later on. Nørrebro runs cheaper and more by accident — Kassen on Nørrebrogade until two at weekends and Dupong on Griffenfeldsgade until three, with table tennis and no doorman to speak of.
