Container stalls, string lights and a bowl of food by the harbour — Reffen

Illustration made with AI

Reffen is the city's largest street food market: dozens of stalls in containers along the water on Refshaleøen, from Korean fried chicken to vegan smash burgers. The quality varies from stall to stall, but the best are genuinely good, and the harbour view does the rest.

The market is built from reused containers and has a bar, seating by the water and room for children to run around. Several stalls serve vegan and vegetarian food.

The stalls are open every day from half past eleven to half past eight, the bars from eleven to half past nine. The market is seasonal, and the house publishes the dates: the summer season runs from mid-March to the end of September, autumn through 2 November, and then it is closed for the winter from November to February. Check before heading out in the cold half of the year.

Take a bike or the harbour bus, arrive before sunset and walk a lap before ordering. It suits a group that cannot agree, and a summer evening where the food is the excuse to sit by the water.
