Galst Bageri
Bakery & coffeeØsterbro, Copenhagen
A small Østerbro bakery with some of the city's best sourdough.

Galst is one of those bakeries people send each other to without writing about it. The room on Lipkesgade is small, the selection short, and the sourdough is why people still queue on a Saturday.
They bake organic and in small batches, and when the bread is gone, it is gone. This is not somewhere you plan an afternoon around — it is somewhere you collect bread.
Open Wednesday to Friday from half past seven to three, Saturday until two and Sunday until one. Monday and Tuesday are closed, and they shut earlier than most.
It suits a morning in Østerbro and anyone who wants a loaf that will last the week. Come before midday — especially at weekends, when the shelves are empty by late morning.
Why it's worth a visit
- Sourdough at the very top
- A small shop with a short range
- Closes early — come in the morning
