The Coffee Collective
Bakery & coffeeNørrebro, Copenhagen
The Jægersborggade roastery that set the standard for Danish specialty coffee.

Coffee Collective is where most Danish baristas learned to taste. The bar on Jægersborggade is small, bright and entirely without decoration: a couple of tables, a stack of coffee bags and an espresso clean enough that you can taste which farm it came from.
They buy directly from the growers and pay above market price, and that is part of the business rather than a footnote. Ask for the filter if you want to understand the difference — the espresso is good, but the filter is where the house shows what it can do.
Open from seven on weekdays and eight at weekends, until seven every day. There are several addresses in the city; Jægersborggade is the original.
There are not many seats and they are usually taken. It suits a cup on the way through Nørrebro and anyone who wants to buy beans and have them explained.
Why it's worth a visit
- Filter coffee from beans they bought at the farm
- Direct trade with published prices to growers
- The obvious start to a walk down Jægersborggade
