Sonny serves coffee with a hint of Paris: marble tables, good croissants and a menu that does not try to be everything. It sits on Rådhusstræde close to the city hall square but feels a neighbourhood away from the tourist flow.

Breakfast is simple and well judged — pastry, eggs, yoghurt — and it is one of the few central places where you can sit down without ordering a whole meal. There is takeaway too if you are moving on.

Open from half past seven Monday to Friday and nine at weekends. Monday and Sunday they close at four, the rest of the week at six. Sonny has several addresses in the city, and Rådhusstræde is the most central.

It suits a morning before work, a pause in the middle of town and the kind of lunch where you do not want to spend an hour. Vegetarian dishes take up much of the card.
