Ved Stranden 10 looks across to Christiansborg and holds one of the most considered wine lists in the country — German and French weight, plenty of bottles by the glass, and staff who ask what you usually drink before recommending.

The bar is also a wine shop, so you can take a bottle home at shop price plus a fee. The food is small plates built to follow the wine: cheese, charcuterie and a croque monsieur that stays on the menu. The Monday supper is now monthly, on the last Monday of the month; Wednesdays have a tasting.

Open Monday to Friday 3pm to 10pm and Saturday noon to 10pm. Closed Sunday, and no reservations.

This is where you go when the wine is the point rather than the accompaniment. It suits two people who want something explained, and anyone who wants to taste something they would not have picked. There are seats facing the canal in summer.
